Chandrasekaran is a Consultant Psychiatrist, academic, and mental health advocate with extensive experience in clinical psychiatry, humanitarian mental health, and policy development. After serving the Ministry of Health Malaysia for 12 years, he worked internationally as a Consultant Psychiatrist and Mental Health Development Adviser, establishing sustainable psychosocial rehabilitation services in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste.

In 2012, he returned to Malaysia under the Talent Corporation Return of Expert Programme and joined Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, as Associate Professor of Psychiatry and its first Director of Clinical Clerkship.

He continues to provide consultancy services to government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and international bodies. He has served on the Mental Health Promotion Advisory Council to the Minister of Health Malaysia, the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, completed consultancy work with the World Health Organization (WHO), and provided mental health services for refugees and asylum seekers.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Andrew Mohanraj is currently President of the Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA), Treasurer and Board Member of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), and Professor at the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, where he continues to advance mental health education, advocacy, and policy development.
