Dr. Loheswary Arumugam is a Registered Consultant Clinical Psychologist with specialist expertise in mental health and forensic psychology. She completed her PhD research in Forensic Psychology (Monash University), Master of Clinical Psychology (HELP) and Bachelor of Psychological Science (Adelaide University). In addition to her core clinical training, Dr. Loheswary has completed Choice Theory and Reality Therapy training with the William Glasser Institute, USA. She is also trained in Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Family and Marriage Therapy.
Dr. Loheswary completed nearly 30000 over hours of specialty clinical training at a Government Hospital in Malaysia and became a fully registered member of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology (MSCP) in 2015. She is also a certified Allied Health Practisioner with Mininstry of health Malaysia (MAHPC), Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) as well as have a prestige membership with British Psychology Society (BPS) under the forensic Division.
Dr. Loheswary provides individual and group therapy, as well as intellectual and psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. She also offers training and support programmes for caregivers, parents, and teachers, equipping them with skills-based knowledge to support the mental health development of children and adolescents at home and in school settings. Dr. Loheswary has significant international experience too working with clients from UK, Australia, Singapore and USA. She has supported individuals with a wide range of addiction-related concerns in a rehabilitation center based in Bali.
She has been a speaker at numerous major conferences in Malaysia and India, presenting on therapy techniques and mental health treatments. In addition, Dr. Loheswary provides therapy, consultation, and training services to non-governmental organizations, government agencies, and corporate organizations in Malaysia and overseas.
Academically, Dr. Loheswary actively lectures and supervises psychology students from major universities in Malaysia. She has also been appointed as an Industrial Training Advisor for two leading universities in the country.
Dr. Loheswary has extensive experience in disaster mental health and crisis intervention. She has participated in multiple disaster relief missions and have received specialized training in psychological interventions during crises. She has also been involved in planning and implementing programmes aimed at enhancing community resilience and psychological well-being following major disasters, including:
